Bush lied! He promised to cut the deficit in half in 5 yrs, he did it 2 yrs.?

by recession proof business on July 20, 2010

In 2004 he promised to cut the deficit in half over 5 years. He achieved this goal 3 years ahead of schedule. Lower now than 18 of the past 25 years. These are actual numbers, not estimates, and come from the numbers ending Feb 30 2006.
President Bush has reduced down the deficit to just 1.9% of the economy. These budget numbers are proof that pro growth economic policies work by allowing people to keep more of what they earn creating jobs and reducing the deficit.
He believes that the people know best how to spend and invest their own money when allowed to keep it. After 37 months of continuous economic growth he believes that "by cutting taxes we encourage small businesses and investment and consumption by reducing taxes." This,"will cause the economy to recover from a recession, terrorist attack, corporate scandal, war, and hurricanes and it has."

What do you think?

This just goes to show the ignorance of the people who are anxious to express anti-administration opinions. All you say is true as reported in the WS Journal. The economy was in a shamble as inherited from Bill Clinton’s liberal give aways and emasculation of the military and intelligence budgets to support those "entitlements". You are right on. History will place W. as one of the best presidents for his war on terrorism, rebuilding of the economy as well as some wise choices for the Supreme Court. Let’s see how many negative votes I get for agreeing with you.

Then I think he’s halfway to fixing one of the mistakes he made his first term. Now if he could fix the rest before he leaves office, we’d be in much better shape!

You will never hear good news about Bush from our ‘truthful’ media.

That Bush is such a rascal!

Its all a conspiracy! July 20, 2010 at 2:28 pm

Guess we’ll just have to sit back and see what happen? Makes you wonder how he’s acomplished this, only a few months ago he was something like 10 trillion in debt of the deficite……. but I’m not an accountant, or finaicail advisor, so the only thing we can do is sit back and just see what happens next.

I really liked how he brought that up at the press conf. today first thing. Makes you wonder!

He also lied when he said he would work hard to build a coalition of members of both parties to lead government, and again when he said the war in Iraq would cost American taxpayers about $7 billion, and we’re now approaching the $300 billion mark, and again when he said he is pro-life but sends people to die in a war based on lies, or when he recommended people for jobs who were grossly unqualified like Michael Brown with FEMA (we all know what a disaster HIS job performance turned out to be! You’re right, he does lie alot! I’m sure if I put my mind ot it, I can come up with tons more examples, these are just the quickest ones that came to my mind…

Right. The President just said that the deficit for the last fiscal year was $250 billion. Why is it, then, that the national debt is $620 billion larger, now, than it was, at the beginning of that same fiscal year?

Could it be because so much borrowing and spending is "off-budget"? Could it be because they’re telling you little, white lies, so you’ll sleep at night, because the plain truth would scare the pants off of you?

If I cooked the books like his administration does, we would have a surplus by now.

I bet we could find something positive that Hitler and Stalin did if we look hard enough. It is hard for me to get past the fact that Bush has killed 650,000 Iraqis, 3000 American soldiers and has pretty much reduced our Constitutional rights to nothing.

I think you need to stop drinking that Kool-Aid and get your mind around that fact that both the annual deficit and the ongoing national debt are at record levels.
