Whats the difference between (ecomonic) Depression and Recession. Seeking basic easy to understand definition?

Looking it up on-line it stated that if the financial events go on for three or more quarters, etc. Yet, I still found it challenging to comprehend the difference between economic recession and depression. Sights I read sounded like "government" language.

Seeking more "regular citizen" language for comprehension. Any added examples for easier understanding is appreciated. Thanks.

When it shows to be "obvious" to citizens that environment of recession, or depression, is going on, why is it stated by the president at the time that the country is not in a recession, or depression ? Just to calm the citizens ?

I heard that it had to do with a lobbyist named Roger Levy. He worked on behalf of Citcorp (now Citigroup) to repeal the Glass-Steagall act of 1933, which was put in place to stop rampant speculation that led to the crash of 1929 and the subsequent GREAT DEPRESSION.

The bill that ultimately repealed the Act was introduced in the Senate by Phil Gramm (Republican-TX) and in the House of Representatives by James Leach (Republican-IA) in 1999. The bills were passed by a 54-44 vote along party lines with Republican support in the Senate. The veto proof legislation was signed into law by President Bill Clinton on November 12, 1999.

The banking industry had been seeking the repeal of Glass-Steagall since at least the 1980s (the good old Reagan days).

Clinton believed that the next administration would enforce strict regulation and likely separate the lending and credit functions through forming distinctly separate subsidiaries of financial firms. Neither of which occurred.

Apparently, Citigroup lobbyist paid aout 200 million dollars in 1998. Phil Graham (the author of the bill) was a chief advisor to McCain until McCain distanced himself from the fmr senator after his controversial statements about the economy during this election year.

My father and I were discussing today’s economy, and we had just recently bought a house and my father said one of the reasons that we were able to get the house (people who try to buy a house in todays economy know what I mean) was that both of my parents are teachers, a so called "recession proof job" because obviously, people need to learn. So, I was just wondering, what other jobs besides teachers are "recession proof"?

The illuminati are a secret society founded decades ago, there goal is to create and establish a New World Order – one world government, one religion, one currency etc.. as stated in the bible before the end times.

Have you noticed how much the mass media have been scare-mongering us with this swine flu business lately, scaring us and forcing us into taking the vaccine, there’s such a big fuss out of it if you’ve noticed however people aren’t taken in by it. Some people believe the vaccine will weaken your immune system over time and shouldn’t take it and that we don’t really know what’s in the vaccine. It’s been proven that the vaccine is not safe as we don’t know much about it plus 1 in 3 nurses and doctors have said they will not take the vaccine. Some others think the vaccine contains the mark of the beast! A nano microchip which is inserted into you when you get the injection.
Apparently, you will eventually have to take the vaccine. School kids will need it otherwise they won’t be able to enrol onto schools, then businesses and the work force will use it as a health and safety innitiative – you have to have it otherwise you won’t be able to go to work etc..

Apparently, you will get a fine and prison sentence in America if you refuse the vaccine.

North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas. All of them have unemployment lower than the national average, while liberal states like California have higher unemployment than the national average. And all of the states i have listed (Besides California) have economies still booming, such as Texas never had a housing bubble.

I have talked correction officers and they tell me there are plenty of illegal drugs in prisons. It seems there are so many government jobs that depend on crime they are not really serious about minimizing or eliminating illegal drug crime. They would be out of a job.
I guess we are all part of a predatory world.
